In keeping with the spirit of new found junk friendship with each of you, I started thinking about a junk community and how fast this seemed to form starting with my first post How to Identify a Junk Addict followed by this second post Junk Addicts Unite!  I also did a series on our favorite Little Old Lady.  I loved each of your comments so much that I am continuing on with trying to create a gathering place, here on the Old House Chic Blog, for all Junk Addicts.

So, welcome to the first of many link parties, called…

The Junk Drunk Link Party!

Drunk?! Just hang on, let me explain…

If you have ever been intoxicated by the affects of a good find, gotten snookered over salvage, adrenaline trashed over antiques, pickled over a pick, toasted over a thrift store treasure, drunk over dumpster diving, crazy giddy over stuff on picked up at the curb, gobbered over a garage sale, crazed from your CraigsList catch- the Junk Drunk Link Party is the place for you!

Metal, Antique, Gas Can, Bird House, upcycled, Junk, Junk Drunk Link Party

Antique Gas Can Bird Houses.

Here are the specifics:

If you can answer these questions…
1.  Found a beaten up old chest of drawers on a curb?  A wornout table at the thrift shop?  An unwanted chair in a dumpster?  How about a diamond in the rough on CraigsList?   A piece of salvage at a demolition site?  An unlikely and upcycle worthy object?

AND

2.  Did you makeover that chest of drawers from the curb?  Refinish or refurbish the thrift store table?  Fix up that unwanted chair?  Create a new life for your CraigsList item?  Saved your salvage? Upcycled your object to the totally unique?

Did you answer yes to any of that?  Well, then…

Welcome to the Junk Drunk Link Party!  I want to hear about your adventures with your junk- the makeovers, the upcycling, the genius new use you thought of for your junk.

For those of you who are bystanders, waiting in the getaway car or at home saying a silent prayer that your loved one comes home and is not currently sitting in jail clutching their find to their chest looking at the jailer with their best fight face, feel free to comment on the posts from us Junk Addicts! (…and if you face plant into your own Junk Addiction, welcome home!)

Wonderful idea! The eyes of my family and friends glaze over when I try to explain my ways. It is always great to commune with the like-minded!!

OH EMM GEE, so glad you are doing this. Yes, I too get the side eye look from family members, but it doesn’t deter me, I keep junking on and I love the fact that there is no rhyme or reason for what we do other than not wanting to see all these rusty “prized” possessions in the dumpster. Can’t wait to see what folks come up with. !!!!

Between my daughter and me, we have done all of the above and more…… Making something from nothing is the most fun and satisfying feelings you can have.
My daughter lives in a small town and finds curbside items all the time. I scout thrift, fleas, yard sales and estate sales almost daily…… We fix up and sell our items for far less than the value of our time. Her Christmas ornaments from old cookie cutters are fantastic. Her next project is to make houses from cardboard like the old-timey ones. Love your ideas–keep them coming.

Sandra- I love yours and your daughter’s ideas, as well! I am also addicted to forming an idea, creating and finishing the project and to add to that- sell it to someone that absolutely loves the finished product. I think that’s why I love markets so much- all of your hard work, creativity, and ideas that people are fighting over to buy.

Would you consider posting some on the Junk Drunk Link Party? I you can’t post a link due to not having a blog, I can post your before’s and afters for you as an alternative. Thanks!

I am excited to see what everyone will post. Like Leslie, my friends and family look at me like I have two heads when I explain what I plan to do with a broken/rusted/trash rescued items. I like the items I finish, I just need to keep up the process.
