While I was shopping at the Two Gentlemen Antique Shop, I came across a long wooden box.  A lid that was meant to slide along the length, within grooves, was set on top.

I lifted the box lid and immediately noticed a thin piece of brass sheet metal that was cut in a stencil type fashion that said “keep this side up.”

I moved the “keep this side up” sheet of brass aside and noticed slots that were segmented off with more sheets of brass metal in each slot.  Each slot was marked with a printed and penciled in letter or number.  Oh!

junk, antique brass stencils,

I realized what I was looking at when I pulled one of the brass sheet pieces out- antique brass stencils!  For every letter and number!  And punctuation marks as well!

Stencil Box

Each slot had more than one stencil and it was such a cool find that I grabbed it up and wouldn’t set it down until I was ready to make my final purchase of my mountain of finds.

How much do you love these?!

Whoa, Bernadette! What a find! I’ve seen these before, now I wish I had bought them! They all hook together for clean stenciling, too. Besides stenciling with them, they’d be cool nailed to an old board, as in the j-u-n-k letters.

By the way, I got my new t-shiiiirrrrrt the other day. So cool. Can’t wait for winter to be over so I can wear it! Thanks again! <3 kathi

Kathi- so glad you love the t-shirt!! Until I read you’re comment, I had not clued in on the fact that they hook together! Thanks for that! I’m coming up with a cool post on a project featuring these stencils!

Mary- I know and I’m so sorry for the hold up in getting more posts out there! I was swamped with getting the new website and shop rolled out and ready to go. Hopefully, from now on, things should be much smoother and more consistent! Thanks for sticking with me!
