Latest Loves: Bead Board
This week’s Latest Love developed out of the Bead Board Hutch Shelf Makeover when a plain white shelf was transformed by adding a row of old mismatched pieces of bead board.
I definitely liked bead board but I didn’t fall into full blown love with it until I saw how charming it was. The difference it made to the little wooden shelf because of the character that came with each piece- nail holes, scratches, peeling paint and aged wood peeking out- was striking. It also helped that I had good luck in the fact that the light blue, cottage green and old white looked so well together.
I also love the warm look of bare pine wood bead board. I added this type of bead board to the industrial rolling wooden shelves I built for a retail store and was amazed at the finished look- the bead board added a feminine touch to the hulking industrial wooden monster. The softened look of the bead board created the perfect backdrop for dainty Ironstone and preserved bird’s eggs.
What do you think? Do you have any furniture pieces or bead board incorporated into your home?
