The Winner of the January Junk Addicts Unite Giveaway
When the Junk Addicts Unite Monthly Giveaway started at the beginning of this new year, I picked January for the topic of “Your Junk History” for a reason.
I gave an example of a part of my own junk history by telling each of you about my adventures with my Dad in salvaging heirloom flowering bulbs from condemned neighborhoods that would be razed as the first step in revitalization.
Junk can be anything from flowering bulbs to making clothes for dolls out of what others might consider garbage and our own clothes made out of flour sacks. Each of you talked about your loved ones making something out of nothing and about the special people- mothers, grandmothers, fathers and grandfathers- who passed along their creative vision to us and taught each of us how to use it. Could you imagine your life without this gift our loved ones gave us? I couldn’t either.
My reason for picking “Your Junk History” was to reveal what all five ladies shared from their own memories- our relationships with our loved ones were strengthened, our memories most cherished and our lessons and experiences most valued. Many of those loved ones are now gone but we still honor them by passing these priceless skills, traits and memories on to your own children and grandchildren.
We all love junk, but I think we are even more addicted to the joy of creative vision inspired by junk, of building new memories out of that junk and the thrill of the next junk adventure with each other. The laughter, the stories, and the excitement of it all will be with us forever, long after our loved ones have passed on.
The Junk Addicts Unite T-shirt was designed with this in mind. It is a call to action for each of us to unite in our love of junk, adventure, finding new friendships and treasuring loved ones past and present. The boxing gloves are a reminder to fight for what you believe in- your vision, your loved ones, your own joy and passing it all along. It is a reminder of where you came from and who you are now. It is a reminder to stay inspired and to spread inspiration to others.
So, to all the wonderful ladies that shared their stories full of cherished memories- Vikki, Jane, Kathi, Mary and Deborah – thank you.
Each of you will be receiving a Junk Addicts Unite T-shirt.
Please email me at email@example.com at your earliest convenience with your t-shirt size (for a unisex 100% cotton t-shirt) and your address to ship your prize to you.
